ASB Student Government Elections

WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN ASB STUDENT GOVERNMENT?
WANT TO LEAD YOUR CLASS?
​RUN FOR OFFICE!
 CLASS ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD  DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF SCHOOL.

Timeline and Instructions: 

For candidates applying for the position of 1 on of the 4 Associated Student Body Officers:

  1. All interested candidates must complete the application by Sep 4th 

  2. The application and all required forms must be shared by September 4th the end of the day to pbaker@natomasunified.org. Late submissions will not be accepted. 

  3. Campaign period is from September 4th to September 16th only.  Candidates must submit all required forms before campaigning.   *See Campaign Guidelines and Rules attached. 

  4. The ASB Officer election days will be from April September 16th to September 18th.  All current 9th, 10th, and 11th  grade N.H.S. students may vote.

  5. You will be contacted for a mandatory interview, conducted on October 1st

  6. Results will be announced on Sunday, October 2nd at the end of the day.

 

Eligibility Requirements for any Student Government Office:

All candidates for office must meet the following requirements:

  1. On track to graduate with the class of 2021

  2. Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

  3. Must be in good standing with attendance.

    • Including ASB Rep attendance (if applies to you)

  4. Socially eligible for school activities at all times. 

Responsibilities and expectations of an ASB Officer: 

You must:

  1. Attend Site Council meetings

  2. Conduct Tuesday morning meetings, and take attendance for class representatives

  3. Maintain a 3.0 GPA

  4. Have 90% attendance in school and Tuesday morning meetings

  5. Be a role model and present leadership on campus.

  6. Read morning announcements before 3rd period everyday

  7. Run class rep elections in the fall of 2020

 

Attendance for Tuesday morning meetings:

It is Natomas High School’s expectation that students “learn the value of being on time, the decency of it, and the expectation of being ready to engage” (NHS Student Handbook). With this expectation, it is a requirement that ASB Officers and class representatives must had 90% attendance or better

  1. Each student a maximum of 2 excused absences per semester

  2. Each student has a maximum of 3 unexcused absences for the entire year 

    • 3 tardies = 1 absence 

Failure to meet these requirements will result in disciplinary action. 

Campaign Guidelines and Rules: 

Approved campaign materials are:

  1. Social Media Posts must tag the @NatomasASB

    • No foul language or inappropriate use of photos

  2. All posts must meet NHS regulations and not interfere with classroom instruction.

Not allowed:

  1. Endorsements, comments, or active support from any NUSD personnel or adult on campus is not permitted at any time. 

  2. CANNOT degrade other candidates or else you will be disqualified from the race

  3. NUSD/N.H.S. resources may not be utilized for campaigns at any time.

 

Any violation of the rules will void the candidacy for office and the candidate’s name will not be listed on the ballot.
